Sustainability Planning Community Workshop - April 16th, 2009

The City of Castlegar is excited to announce the kick-off for the City's Sustainable Official Community Plan (OCP) and Infrastructure Strategy.

The plan will address the City's long-term vision for land use and infrastructure using a 'sustainability lens' as it looks at issues such as diverse and affordable housing, economic viability, and environmental protection.

Public consultation and involvement is critical to the success of the plan. As the first step, the City will host a community workshop to establish a vision for sustainability and a series of goals.

These meetings, the first in a series of consultation sessions over the next year, will provide the foundation for the Sustainable OCP and Infrastructure Strategy.

SUSTAINABLE OCP COMMUNITY WORKSHOP
Thursday, April 16, 2009 - 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Community Forum - 445-13th Avenue,

The workshop will begin with a review of the 2006 Resident Survey and the 2007 Community Assessment, followed by a short presentation about the principles of community sustainability.

Participants will then break into groups and discuss a community vision for sustainability, along with community concerns, potential solutions, and goals for community sustainability. Everyone is invited to attend. We want to hear from you!
