Apply for a Permissive Property Tax Exemption
Permissive property tax exemptions are a way for Council to support community non-profit organizations that enhance quality of life for City of Castlegar citizens.

Eligibility
In order to qualify for permissive tax exemptions, organizations must meet the requirements under Section 224 of the BC Community Charter and comply with the City’s Property Tax Exemption Policy. Permissive tax exemptions are granted for one year only, and organizations must apply annually.
How to Apply
- Complete the Property Tax Exemption Application and provide supporting documentation.

Note: Applications must be received by the deadline (July 31 of each year) in order to be considered for the following taxation year.
