The City of Castlegar is made up of several departments that work together to provide services and resources for everyone living and doing business in Castlegar.

The primary role of the Administration Department is to provide policy options and recommendations to Mayor and Council and to ensure that their priorities and policies are implemented.
The Civic Works department develops and maintains the City of Castlegar’s infrastructure and municipal facilities.
The City of Castlegar’s Communications department delivers public awareness, advertising, and education campaigns that support City services, programs, projects and events and Council initiatives.
The City of Castlegar’s Corporate Services department provides legislative services, and is responsible for preparing and disseminating Council agendas and minutes and maintaining access to corporate records (including bylaws, policies and procedures and contract administration).
Planning and Development Services is responsible for ensuring that the community grows in a manner that meets the basic needs of all residents by ensuring that our community is resilient, connected, inclusive and accessible to everyone.
Castlegar’s Engineering & Infrastructure department provides technical oversight and guidance to infrastructure decision-making to ensure sustainable, cost-effective delivery.
The Financial Services department provides financial expertise, risk management, and guidance to support all City of Castlegar operations.
The Castlegar Fire Department responds to fires, rescues, MVA/MVI incidents, first responder medical calls, and all other emergency situations.
