Grant Application – Homelessness Population Estimate

Council received a request from the Manager of Planning, Development & Sustainability to apply to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) Grant for a Homelessness Population Estimate. Last year the City received a $20,000 grant to complete a Housing Needs Report which is underway. This year, the City set aside funds to conduct a Point in Time Count as a value-added project to support this work. This UBCM grant would support a Homelessness Population Estimate as an alternative approach to the Point in Time Count which would better estimate rural homelessness, housing insecurity, and service needs in the Castlegar area. This will be considered for adoption at the March 6, 2023, Regular Council Meeting.

Council Adopted the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Bylaw No. 1387, which updated an outdated reference to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation.
