Outdoor Rinks Closed for the Season

Due to forecasted warmer temperatures over the next couple of weeks, the outdoor rinks will remain closed and are not expected to reopen for the season. These temperatures are not conducive to maintaining ice to safe conditions for public skating.

Outdoor Rinks Open

Due to colder temperatures, Castlegar's outdoor community rinks are now open for skating & hockey.

The rinks are free to use and located at the back side of Kinnaird Park, 2501 14th Avenue. They are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day and lit during the evening hours.

Both rinks normally remain open until late January or early February if the temperatures stay at, or below, freezing. The rinks may close from time-to-time according to weather conditions or maintenance needs. Notifications will be posted on the City’s Facebook page and website.

The City of Castlegar is a service centre in the West Kootenay. The diversified and growing economy is focused on the forestry, energy and mining sectors in the valley, and commercial services in the City.
