Permissive Tax Exemption

Division 7 of the Community Charter permits Council to allow Permissive Tax Exemptions for qualifying, Castlegar-based, registered, non-profit organizations using property for municipal, recreational, religious, cultural or charitable purposes.

Qualifications:

To be eligible to apply for a Permissive Tax Exemption, an organization must meet the requirements under Section 224 of the Community Charter, and comply with the City of Castlegar’s Property Tax Exemption Policy No. 15.

Application Process:

Applications must be received by July 31st of each year, in order to be considered by Council for the following taxation year.

Application Forms:

Applicants are required to complete an application form and provide supporting documentation.
