Campfire Ban Rescinded

Campfire Ban Rescinded

Effective noon Pacific Time, Friday September 14th 2018, and in conjunction with the South East Fire Centre, campfires will again be permitted throughout the City of Castlegar.

Campfires within the city limits are defined as being no larger than 1 meter in diameter.  Campfires must be contained within a fire pit or ring and located on private property a minimum of 3 meters away from any structures, fences, property lines, easements and overheads like trees, power poles and power and utility lines. In addition, only clean, dry campfire wood is to be used for the purposes of cooking and warmth. There must be a water supply present and minors must be supervised by a competent adult. Please be considerate of your neighbours when hosting campfires and never leave campfires to burn out or left unattended.

Please note that the City of Castlegar Bylaw 905 prohibits open air burning with the exception of campfires as stated above, as well as burning of prohibited materials
