NOTICE OF YARD WASTE FACILITY CLOSURE - April 24-28, 2019
The City's yard waste facility at the Castlegar Community Complex will be closed from Wednesday, April 24th to Sunday, April 28, 2019 to facilitate the West Kootenay Trade Show.
If you have yard waste to dispose of during this time, the following alternatives are available to you:
- the Ootischenia Landfill located @ 671 Columbia Road;
- The City's twice annual spring curbside yard waste collection (being held April 8th & May 7th in North Castlegar & April 10th & May 8th in South Castlegar this year)
- backyard composting - there are many great websites that provide excellent advice including http://extension.colostate.edu/docs/pubs/garden/07212.pdf or https://www.castlegar.ca/residents/services/garbage-recycle-and-compost
The yard waste facility will re-open Monday, April 29th for the remainder of the season. Be advised that burning of this material is prohibited within City boundaries.
