Public Notice - Water Conservation Requested

The City is asking residents to limit water consumption to essential use only on Monday, March 15.

This is required during Mercer Celgar’s scheduled maintenance of water pumps on the primary water supply line for the City of Castlegar. This routine maintenance work ensures the reliability of water pumps.

“Limiting water consumption is important during this one-day maintenance period,” says Chris Hallam, the City’s Director of Municipal Services. “It helps ensure the City will have adequate water available for fire fighting purposes.”

Water quality and supply to residents and businesses will not be affected.

The City thanks everyone for considering water use and appreciates the community’s support.

The City of Castlegar is a service centre in the West Kootenay. The diversified and growing economy is focused on the forestry, energy and mining sectors in the valley, and commercial services in the City. Quality of life features backcountry adventure and an increasingly dynamic urban culture, including the Millennium Park & Ponds and Sculpture Walk.
