UPDATE Castlegar Flooding / Bloomer Creek

The City previously reported that a minor slide upstream on Bloomer Creek, in the Oglow subdivision, caused a temporary blockage in the downstream storm system that required City action to clean the system.

The City continues to work to clear debris, from the landslide, throughout the storm system but heavy rains during the evening of June 1, 2017 overwhelmed the system that was already compromised by debris from the landslide. This has caused localized flooding at 6th Street and 9th Avenue. City Crews continue to work at clearing the storm system.
