Success Story
Tyler Hadikin and Steve Hall always knew each other growing up in Castlegar.
Their love of filming and photography started young, with Steve winning “Best Amateur Documentary” at the Vancouver film festival while still in high school. Leaving for the big city lights of Vancouver for work opportunities, “home” was calling. The two decided to combine forces and start a Castlegar-based production company – Stacked Films – in 2016. “We’ve seen expansion of local technology companies first-hand, and combined with affordable cost of living, we see significant potential for both our company and creative industry in Castlegar and the West Kootenay,” Tyler says. He adds, “This is also a lifestyle decision for us – from lake-life summers to incredible skiing and snowmobiling.” Stacked Films now employs four people and offers film, photography, graphic design and social media management services globally.
If you are a Creative Industry, the City of Castlegar wants you! We believe we have the combination of inspired setting, lifestyle, affordability, and access (e.g. a regional airport) that is attractive to creative spirits. If you don’t think we mean it, have a look at our Sculpture Walk.
