Water Restrictions
Summer presents special water system problems in Castlegar. Excessive water use during Summer can impact the City’s main water supply and storage for firefighting purposes.
June 15 to September 15 – Residents of Castlegar, Blueberry & Lucas Road
$50 fine Levied for Non-ComplianceUnder the City’s Municipal Ticketing Bylaw 1179, a $50 fine can be issued for prohibited sprinkling/irrigation.
Water Sprinkling & Car Washing Restricted to Every 2nd Day
- Residents at odd number addresses (ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 OR 9) water on odd number calendar days
Residents at even number addresses (ending in 0, 2, 4, 6 OR 8) water on even number calendar days - Morning 5:00 am to 11:00 am
- Evening 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Timers & Underground Timed Sprinkler Systems Also Restricted to Every 2nd Day Schedule
- Overnight 11:00 pm to 5:00 am
Note: Please advise City Hall at 250-365-7227 if you have one of these water regulating systems.
Did You Know?
Daily Summer residential water use increases up to 200%. This is due primarily to lawn and garden watering and car washing.
