Community in Bloom
Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement with focus on enhancing green spaces in communities.
Over the summer, volunteer judges travel to participating communities to evaluate based on the following criteria: tidiness, environmental action, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscape and floral displays.
With its numerous greenspaces, temperate climate and rich agricultural roots, Castlegar was named a 2017 National Finalist and received a 5 Blooms Bronze rating and a special mention for Blooming of Spring Bulbs during the 2016 National/International Symposium and Awards Ceremonies in Regina, SK. The community also received an Outstanding Achievement Award for the Home Hardware Beauti-Tone Heritage Conservation Award.
