City of Castlegar and CUPE 2262 Reach New Collective Agreement
The City of Castlegar and CUPE 2262 have reached a new four-year collective agreement.
CUPE 2262 represents 58 workers working for the City of Castlegar who provide public community services for residents and businesses.
The new agreement provides wage increases of 4 percent in 2026, 3.75 percent in 2027, 3.75 percent in 2028, and 3.5 percent in 2029.
Key highlights include expanded health and wellness benefits, one day of paid leave for each City employee to volunteer at a Castlegar-based event or with a Castlegar-based community organization that builds pride in our city, and improved overtime for employees working outside regular hours.
“We worked with CUPE to find an agreement that is in line with the trend of other local government settlements while balancing support for our employees with our responsibility to taxpayers,” says City of Castlegar Chief Administrative Officer, Chris Barlow. “The agreement provides certainty for employees and the organization, allowing us to remain focused on delivering the programs and services Castlegar residents rely on.”
“We’re pleased to have a new agreement in place that not only provides improvements for workers but will also strengthen the services our community counts on,’ says CUPE 2262 President Dustin LePage. “CUPE 2262 members are proud to serve Castlegar, and we look forward to continuing to work with the City to provide quality public services for residents and businesses.”
