Sign Up for Pre-Authorized Tax Payment Plan
The City of Castlegar’s Pre-Authorized Tax Payment Plan allows you to plan ahead and make 10 monthly instalments towards your next year’s property taxes.
Financial Services
How it Works
Starting in August and ending in May, the City withdraws 10 equal payments directly from your bank account on the 15th of each month, so that you have money in your property tax account to apply to next year’s property taxes.
Each year, the City will adjust your pre-authorized withdrawal amount and notify you prior to the first withdrawal in August.
Note: If you have any taxes owing on your Property Tax Notice, the balance will NOT be automatically withdrawn – taxpayers must pay the remaining balance and claim their Province of BC Home Owner Grant (if eligible) prior to the due date.
Eligibility & How to Apply
To join the Pre-Authorized Tax Payment Plan, your Castlegar tax and utility accounts must be up-to-date.
- Complete the Pre-Authorized Tax Payment Plan Application.
- Attach a void cheque.
- Deliver to City Hall, or email the completed form to finance@castlegar.ca, prior to August 1 to begin the plan on August 15.
