The Castlegar Fire Department will conduct FireSmart work at Millennium Park & Ponds on September 5 & 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Castlegar Fire Department will conduct FireSmart work at Millennium Park & Ponds on September 5 & 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This work is part of a three-year phased wildfire mitigation project specific to Millennium Park & Ponds, conducted in collaboration with Selkirk College students in the Forest Technology Program. The City and Selkirk College partnership began in 2018, offering students valuable hands-on experience while enhancing community safety.
Please respect all signage and barricades around the worksite for your and our crews’ safety. Glacier Valley Tree Service will operate heavy machinery onsite, including a chipper and skid steer, and perform essential tree-falling work.
This project reduces wildfire risks and provides invaluable experience for the forestry students from Selkirk College.
