Water
The City of Castlegar’s source water derives from the Arrow Lake, a water source of historically high quality and abundant supply.
A 1,350 mm diameter watermain from the Arrow Lake intake delivers water to the City’s Ultra-Violet (UV) treatment facility. A tee in the line delivers untreated water to the Mercer-Celgar pulp mill, with the remainder going to the City’s treatment facility. A supplementary groundwater source in the City core area, known as the North Well, is used as a backup source for emergencies.
