Temporary Water Supply Change Scheduled for October 9-11
Residents are advised that planned maintenance work at the Arrow Lakes Pumphouse will require a temporary change to the City of Castlegar’s backup water supply source from Friday, October 9 to Sunday, October 11, 2026.
Under normal operations, City water is pumped from the Arrow Lakes Pumphouse. During the maintenance period, the City will temporarily receive water from its backup water supply to ensure continued service to residents and businesses.
Water quality will be monitored throughout the maintenance period, and the City does not anticipate issuing a Water Quality Advisory. The temporary water source change has been planned in coordination with Interior Health and follows established procedures and guidelines for the use of the North Well water system.
The City is asking residents to reduce non-essential outdoor water use during this timeframe. Conserving water helps reduce overall water system demand while the community is operating on an alternate water source.
Residents can help by:
- Avoiding vehicle washing
- Avoiding use of irrigation systems
