Natural Swimming Ponds at Millennium Park Temporarily Closed
The natural swimming ponds at Castlegar’s Millennium Park are temporarily closed.
During routine water testing, Civic Works crews noted water quality concerns and closed the ponds as a precautionary measure. Crews will flush the ponds with fresh water over the next few days to improve these conditions. The City expects the ponds to remain closed until next week when the sample results are expected.
“We apologize for any inconvenience the temporary closure may have on people visiting the park,” says Director of Municipal Services, Chris Hallam. “Safety is always a top priority while maintaining the natural ponds at Millennium Park and we look forward to reopening the ponds as soon as we can confirm the water is okay for swimming.”
The City follows the Canadian Recreational Water Guidelines and regularly tests the natural ponds’ water quality and submits the results to Interior Health Authority for review.
