Solid Waste Residential
The City’s yard waste facility permanently closed on March 31, 2025. As a result, on April 1, the yard waste compost charge is no longer included on utility bills.
Your current bill reflects Quarter 1 (January–March) and includes: $72.25 for curbside collection and $8.30 for yard waste compost, which is a total of $80.55. Starting in Quarter 2 (April–June), your utility bill will show a single charge of $77.63 for curbside collection, with no additional fee for yard waste compost.
This change will be reflected on your bill in July. Overall, this results in a net annual savings of $8.74.
Keep wildlife out of waste carts and green spaces
Castlegar is home to bears and other wildlife. These animals sometimes visit neighbourhoods because they are attracted by waste. Here’s what you can do to help.
