Canada Day Planning Kicks Off in Castlegar

The City of Castlegar is planning an exciting, family-friendly Canada Day celebration at Millennium Park & Ponds on Tuesday, July 1, and everyone is invited to join the fun.

This free event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and kicks off with the singing of O’ Canada, followed by a full day of activities for all ages.

Event highlights include:

  • Free hamburgers (while supplies last) and Canada Day cake
  • Live entertainment on stage throughout the day
  • An interactive Kids Play Zone with face painting and engaging activities
  • Canada Day tattoos, stickers, flags, beach balls, and other fun goodies for the kids

“This is a time for us to come together as a community and celebrate everything we love about Canada,” said Councillor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff, Chair of the Cultural and Civic Pride

Committee. “It’s going to be a joyful day for all ages, and we’d love to see everyone out at Millennium Park & Ponds.”

To make this celebration extra special, the City is currently seeking:

  • Food vendors that are self-contained
  • Local artisan vendors
  • Entertainers and performers
  • Volunteers to help on event day
  • Sponsors interested in supporting this community celebration (sponsors will receive recognition through our event campaign, including social media, website, newspaper, and other promotional materials)

If you’re interested in participating as a vendor, performer, volunteer, or sponsor, please contact Councillor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff at sheatonsherstobitoff@castlegar.ca or 250-608-2655. Reach out soon—spaces may fill quickly!

In a time when unity and pride are more important than ever, Castlegar’s Canada Day event offers a chance to celebrate what connects us as a community and a country.
