April 14, 2026 – Water Quality Advisory

Please be advised that the City of Castlegar has issued a Water Quality Advisory. This is a precautionary measure while the City tests its backup water supply.

This advisory will remain in place until rescinded.

A Water Quality Advisory tells you that:

  • There is some level of risk associated with consuming the drinking water, but a Boil Water Notice is NOT required.

Water Quality Advisories may be issued for various reasons, including, but not limited to:

  • Routine maintenance work on the water supply system
  • Turbidity (the cloudiness of water)

The risk is elevated for the following:

  • People with weakened immune systems and chronic illnesses
  • Infants and young children
  • The elderly
  • Anyone seeking additional protection

For further information, please contact the Civic Works Department at 250-365-5979 or visit the Water Advisory Map at https://drinkingwaterforeveryone.ca/advisorymap/.

Continued updates can be found at castlegar.ca.

To understand the precautions to take, please refer to the Water Quality Advisory FAQ provided by Interior Health.
