Natural Swimming Ponds at Millennium Park Re-open
The natural swimming ponds at Castlegar’s Millennium Park are now open.
The ponds were temporarily closed on August 4 when crews noted an issue with the well at Millennium Park & Ponds that feeds the ponds and irrigation infrastructure. The ponds were closed while the well was out of service and during the water sample testing period.
“We are happy to re-open the natural ponds in time for people to enjoy the rest of summer swimming in them,” says Director of Municipal Services, Chris Hallam. “Safety is always a top priority and water sample testing has confirmed the water is suitable for swimming.”
The City follows the Canadian Recreational Water Guidelines and regularly tests the natural ponds’ water quality and submits the results to Interior Health Authority for review.
